7852 S Pioneer St., Midvale
Groundbreaking: June 11, 2015
Opening celebration: Aug. 8, 2017
One by one, Canyons District has worked to use funds from a $250 million bond approved in 2010 to update schools with the greatest need. One of those schools is Midvale Middle, which was built in 1955. After 60 years of existence in its quiet Midvale neighborhood, the school has become a part of the community, and the new building with its art deco embellishes was designed to reflect the area's industrial roots. The school is equipped to accommodate 1,100 students on its original footprint. It features a 650-seat auditorium, collaboration spaces, a gym and fitness area, indoor and outdoor common student areas and classrooms built for the high-tech demands of the 21st century.
